I think it's good that you rescheduled. it's important to prioritize your mental health and your limits. Hopefully they get back to you soon, good luck on the job search.
Talk to a doctor or psychiatrist and explain what has and is happening - then ask about beta blockers (eg. Propranolol 10-20mg as needed or 2-3x /day), then ask about off label anti anxiety (eg. gabapenton) it’s non addictive, if you don’t have insurance no biggie they have generic forms of these compounds. Read up on them and be informed before you connect with a doctor- no if ands or buts about these medications will remove these impediments- 85-95%. If you get the meds, get acclimated to them before you use them for an interview, it may take 1-2 weeks to adapt to the physiological changes. But that racing anxiety and those jolts of adrenaline that run from your stomach and chest to your brain will be profoundly dampened.
Don't forget to eat well, get some good rest, and look after yourself. You need those basics in place. Keep at it!
lets not forget that everyone everywhere is a person. If you have to excuse you're self due to your illness than I say feel no obligation to explain anything. it is your personal information. treat it as such.
Challenge: Maybe I’m old school. Cancelling was a mistake. I was out of work for five (5) months before getting an interview with the second company that would interview me. I’m 16 months into a divorce from a grandiose narcissistic abuser, my dad just had an amputation surgery, I’ve moved through three rentals in these 5 months, my new laptop was stolen, my wife got laid off in December and no longer pays her half of the mortgage [in my name], my savings are almost drained, and all my and my wife’s mutual friends don’t talk to me any more leaving me very lonely in a state where I have no family of my own. And this is just the “short” list. My anxiety should be through the effing roof, but I pray and suck it up and focus on the positive aspects of every foul thing that happens. These are all learning opportunities!
Action: No, you do not have to explain why you rescheduled, but don’t reschedule any more just because you feel uncomfortable. Giving in to anxiety will perpetuate it. LEARN ASAP how to overcome it. Even if and when anxious (or feeling anything), do the interview anyway and view it as practice, as a learning experience for the next one.
Result: You learn to better perform in interviews.
A testimony, my solution was getting right with God and learning to hand him my spiritual and emotional burdens. I was brought low in October, weeping daily in loneliness and anxiety and frustration. I learned to mentally bundle the stress into a ball and with outstretched hands place it at the feet of God. Instantaneously, a great weight was lifted from my soul. Thoughts were more clear, heart was lifted and softened, stress evaporated. It was very hard to swallow my pride and get past the “This is silly” attitude, but it worked and it continues to work.
Soon, I start a new job at my asking salary. That would not have happened had I clung to the weakness, had there been no humility to hand that weakness to a higher power and focus on strength and inner peace
