This isn’t direct to your question… and I hope you get better, and find appropriate care… but let’s dive in…
What are the terms of your STD insurance? Is it possible you can go on LTD? It’s been my experience that although your role may be gone, if your on STD/LTD, your now under the shell of the insurance company… your company and prospects no longer play a role… granted, you will not have a job when you are medically cleared to return, but you have time to get yourself situated and obtain new employment…
I have gone through the exact same situation except when my leave was over I resigned and then all the work I did in the past six months on my mental health was destroyed just the anxiety of going back to that place that really burnt me out with too much to deal with!
Now I am in a outpatient partial hospitalization program for therapy and getting my medication reevaluated. I do hope they give me a new psychiatrist because for the last three years, no one has listened to me when I said the medicine that I have been taking for eight years is no longer being effective, which I feel also really contributed to my bad choices when it came back to going to work.
My best advice would be to face it rather than try to avoid it. Breathe, include movement, possibly try journaling or a technique where you narrate every thing you are doing (ex. "I am picking up the shampoo bottle; I am putting shampoo into my hand; I am washing my hair with the shampoo"... Etc). And try your best to stay present in the moment you are in. Meditation is great, such as guided meditation videos on YouTube. Try not to get too caught up in how you feel about how you are feeling (I.e. "I hate that I'm anxious all the time"). Slow the mind, be kind to yourself and if you aren't able to generate the positive thinking on your own there is no problem with inputting positive thinking with the guided meditation. Oh and if you aren't already, therapy therapy therapy!
Morning anxiety has something to do with cortisol level spike after wake up. So first thing please drink plenty of water and eat a healthy breakfast. It helps a lot!
I experienced this and went out on FMLA.
What helped me was to wash my face with ice-cold water. I listened to videos by Calm on YouTube and listened to rain or white noise to relax.
What does the short term disability have to do with this? You’re dealing with a tough situation. Take time to feel better and find a new opportunity
Meet with an employment lawyer
What’s that going to do? Their job is being outsourced… they’re not being laid off…
Consult with an employment lawyer to check if you have a claim for disability discrimination, or any other claim related to your right to take FMLA or other leave.
You’ll want to create a timeline of what you disclosed to your job, and when you disclosed it (don’t post that here).
