I'd say that if the role you've seen advertised is 100% your role at the same salary, and it's not your role combined with another position then you it may be worth considering legal action. However I'd balance that with how this may have affected you financially and mentally. if you've found another job quite quickly then probs best to leave it and move on, if you're struggling and you're going to have some difficult financial times ahead then look into it. I would say that there are always lots of unknowns to individuals in this case and if you were made redundant with a bigger group of people it sounds to me to be a legitimate cost cutting exercise to right size the company as opposed to retaliation for something
The salary and role title/description are identical, but whether or not it's my role I'm afraid could be argued. In October I was moved away from the group for which the role is posted for now. I was moved to a more "critical" group, then by mid-November, laid off.
I was the only person from that critical group, and the only engineer laid off.

Did you do something recently that makes you think it was retaliation? Were the 12 other folks part of the same matrix organization? Sounds like they were cutting cost with the team and consolidating. If you left on good terms, you may want to reach out to your old manager and ask what caused it.
Thanks for your thoughts. Recently I was raising very valid issues about a safety critical project. My concerns weren't welcomed. I was the only person laid off from this "critical" team. I was also the only engineer laid off.
First port of call should be your union rep.
My first thought is that your former employer may be posting what looks like your former job as a ghost job. Seriously, there are articles about how companies will post jobs they have no intention of filling, just so it looks like they're active and doing well. In any event, you're probably better to just move on. Sounds like the company is troubled and it's better to put them behind you.
Here the reason they rather hire young unprofessional guys from college that they can pay less. They dont want to pay your retirement or the still work under DEI . My best sulation is to fine something better or start your own and treat others better than they treat you. I work for and Engineering company in Dallas RAR where Engineering get more respectful that the drafting and today I was doing nothing for 4 hrs until one guy comes in and gives him work and he came 2 hrs later but he has been there 5 yrs .I have more experience than he does .
fix your english .. "and engineering" .. "get more respectful that " .. and the remainging sentence fragment
