I was underpaid for approximately 4 months and I tried to tell my manager and HR about it after I realised after 1 month that I was being underpaid.

They have provided a back pay but I am not happy about the outcome.

I know that they have provided the compensation for it but I don't think a "sorry" would be fair for them.

I'm thinking of reporting them to FairWork.

My current salary is under market average for my position but based off my coworkers’ negative experiences with asking for raises/promotions, I’m not really sure how to go about starting the conversation with my manager. There’s also a rumor going around that the company is going to scale back on our marketing efforts even though our VP tells us a different story. Either way I need more money and I just want to have that conversation before I begin looking for a new job.
