My base loc is Bengaluru, but currently I am not mandatorily required to work from office, and have been working from home since I joined Deloitte in July. Should I talk to my manager and go back to my hometown Kolkata and work from there? Staying in PG all day and working from here is not quite feasible for me. Suggest pls. Deloitte India

So glad my neighbors can't do that, i don't live in a hotel for a reason, I want ppl sharing walls with me who have a vested interest in maintaining a mutually agreeable living situation

Renting places to party in, esp randomly midweek, used to happen way too often. My experience anyway. Hence my position
Absolutely not
Just post “subletting my apartment for 6 days while I’m in CDMX” like every other insufferable person who can’t really afford their rent

Short answer no, but it’s a double edged sword where NYC hotels are ridiculously priced. Like a CY is $350 a night, even on a corporate rate. On the flip side, short term rentals will kill NYC long term rentals if supply is being taken out for short term rentals. So as people who live here, we’d rather the already expensive and limited supply of housing not be taken out of the market.

If there's a way to make money, trust newnyorkers will find a way to abuse it and ruin it for everyone
Who can really afford their rent these days tho? Banning Airbnb hasn’t made an impact of increasing the supply of affordability of rent and now it eliminates a source of extra income

Lots of us can, and with it don't want vacationers in our buildings. If you cant afford, totally reasonable and understandable, and you shouldn't live outside of your means. Can look at Jersey, easy commute and much cheaper
Just go on craigslist or post in other message board sites. Don't need a middle man.
There are subgroups where you can advertise your place for that particular time. I live in park slope and there's a group on Facebook where I've been able to find former airbnb hosts that advertise their place. It's been so good for when my family visits for an extended period of time. I agree that canceling airbnbs hasn't made a dent into the rent prices / supply in NY and has hurt some honest NYers trying to make some extra money with their property.
