PA is broad but amongst the B4 I believe the average profits per partner is around $850k when you average all partners across the US at all levels. So starting partners make around $350/400k and Senior partners make well in excess of $1M.
However you also should take into account the pensions which can payout between $300-400K a year for as long as the partner or spouse/SO shall live.
It can be lucrative. For me it has been a great job and life. It certainly isn’t stress free but IMO the more senior you get the better you know how to handle it. If it is a question of when, and not if, I would say make it and then decide.
Making partner at a preeminent global professional services firm (which the B4 are) is a great qualification and achievement. It will always be on your resume. However, Whether it is right for you OP is a personal decision only you can make. No one knows you like you do.
May I ask what an ED/MD (non equity) makes in comparison? Are retirement benefits worth it?
Agree with P1. It’s definitely worth it but keep in mind making partner is not just about “holding out”. You have to work really hard and be really strategic.
