I have an offer to start at a new firm 3rd week of January and am trying to figure out timing on when to give a two week notice. For context I’m in consulting and our current projects are wrapping up by year end/we don’t get a busy season surge. How do you decide how much notice to give when you're leaving a firm to go to a competitor? I know that no matter how much notice I give, they'll walk me out the day I give it. I don't want to be in limbo for 2-4 weeks while my licenses are still held by the former firm before I can start at the new one. But I also don't want to burn a bridge by resigning effective immediately. Would appreciate some insight from other W2 advisors who have moved firms before.
