Any contract family law attorneys in Kentucky?
New to Fishbowl?

Is there any other attorneys that he works with or refers to who you could reach out to, who might help with an intervention? It sounds like he really shouldn’t wait until May.
The only other advice I have is reach out to the bar to get information on winding down a law practice. Maybe you present that info to him as you being proactive in anticipation of May?
Wishing you all the best.
This is the response I was hoping to receive. THANK YOU!
Maybe reach out to the local bar to inquire about resources when an attorney is struggling. 76 and sick sounds rough. He needs to wind down his practice NOW
I am thinking the same. Thank you for responding.
Spend more time looking for another job than working.
I am currently revising my resume and looking online when I am at home. I was looking for professional assistance with whether to contact the court or something else before he doesn't have a practice to close in May.
OP - checking back on you. Let us know how you (and your boss) are doing?
Thank you for thinking about me! My stress level is through the roof! Unfortunately, my boss passed away on February 27th.
Since my boss was a sole practitioner, I don't have anyone to turn to so I am now working with two local attorneys (long-time friends of my boss) to go through all the active cases and decide whether they are taking them, whether they are going to other local attorneys, or back to clients to find their own counsel. I am also working with the family to clean up all of my boss' personal items out of the office. I have six full banker's boxes of closed cases ready to go to storage and that's not all of them. Once all of the case files are removed from the office, then we will start sending letters out to all of the clients with files stored off-site giving them 30 days to claim the files.
Monday, I drafted all of the probate documents for my boss' estate and filed everything today. There is a huge rush to get an administrator appointed because the banks have frozen all of our office, IOLTA, trust and guardianship accounts. We can't write checks, we can't accept payments from clients because we can't deposit and, worst of all, I can't get paid. Once an administrator is appointed, then they will be able to handle all the financial matters relating to the office.
We had a big meeting yesterday and, even though the will named his wife as executor, the attorneys believe that the court would prefer an attorney handle this estate because of the law practice.
In January, I told my boss that I would stay till the end. I just couldn't walk away. I thought that that would make me a terrible human. I'll get through not getting a paycheck, but it will be difficult. Thanks again for thinking about my situation and following up.
