One coworker said I did a good job on the meeting and no one in it physically seemed particularly disturbed. So I think I'm okay, but I hate having to deal with baseline disrespect every day and determine which is enough to interrupt the workflow for.
I think it depends on how you do it. There’s a way you could stand up for yourself and look good and confident. Or there’s a way that will make you look bad, or petulant.
This past week I had to stand my ground with another attorney colleague on another team who tried to aggressively pressure me to make a decision I wasn’t comfortable with. Business clients were also putting pressure on. In the end my position was the one that won out (with reasonable caveats) and that lawyer changed their tone and did a complete 180 afterwards when the higher ups heard what happened. But my boss commended me for it and I know I handled it well even if I wasn’t the most popular guy in the room.
If I were in your shoes, I’d ask myself with rigorous honesty whether I carried myself in a good way, or a bad way, when standing up for myself.
Things are very tense. A lot of people are saying good things about me. A lot of people are saying really negative things about me, I'm out of the loop myself. I saw a piece of my work printed out that I did well on.
