I'd like to educate myself and finally start investing. I'm 33 and have only cash. What's the best book/resource would you recommend to help me understand the basics and make a good move ?

OP a lot of these books and “resources” are a bunch of jargon that are just going to make things more confusing for you. If I were in your position I’d tell myself to start “dollar cost averaging” into what is called an “index fund” specifically either QQQ or VOO. I’d first make a robinhood account, search for those above mentioned index funds on the search bar and buy every other Wednesday. Done I no longer need to go through a bunch of bs old school resources. Once you start doing this then yeah go ahead and look up “investing 101” on YouTube. Not financial advice just what I’d tell my self.
Also keep in mind most people in this bowl have no idea what they’re talking about and were calling for a multi year stock market recession in April 2020. Take it as you will

Have you read any of these books? Most of the books being recommended are for people who need to learn the basics… 🤦‍♀️

Really hoping to avoid judgment on this post. Has anyone had to sign up for government or state assistance after becoming unemployed? Was the process difficult? I've heard from multiple people about how inflated the assets are and high the P/E ratio is, hence not a good time to invest in the market. Long term investors, how do you deal with this argument? P.s. I understand the time in the market>time the market.

I spent the last 3 months "growing up" & now I'm ready to go. 1st thing is for me to get my own place. I'd like to buy instead of rent because I don't want to pay someone else's mortgage.

I'm thinking of selling my car & cash out some of my 401k to buy a house. My thought is to put down 3.5% for a FHA loan then make a big payment towards the principal to reduce long-term interest.

Anything wrong with this thinking or anything else I should consider?

I have significant equity in a property (300k+) and maybe another 200k across other properties. I have a decent amount of money in cash and already 200k or so in stocks. Would you consider pulling money through cash out refi and using it? I get nervous for stocks being so high. I have a few properties in pipeline already. How would you suggest using it (if at all).

Having trouble selling my (retired) dad's house. It needs a lot of work, but has great character. What if I buy it myself for a low, low price? Then I would be able to get a FHA 203k loan to do the updates. Rent it out or put it back on the market in the spring.

Article is well informed to say they are all from Consulting, but stops short to say which part of Consulting.
