Random question - My dad took a whole life insurance policy for me when I was 15. Although the policy relates to me, the name of the policyholder is my dad and I would like to change it to me but keep the same beneficiaries. Is it possible to transfer from him to me? (This policy relates to my death btw)

I think my parents own a policy on me as well. What is the benefit? At this point I’m in my 50s and single/no dependents. They’re in their 70s and quite well off. What’s the value proposition to owning this instrument? (Other than some insurance agent making a commission and an insurer getting some premiums decades ago)

I don’t think so. It’s his policy. You should discuss with him or a legal professional

The job market has been really competitive but I am getting closer to getting a new job and moving on. The firm culture isn't great and work-life balance is non existent. My physical and mental health have been suffering, so I really don't think I could stay. How did you avoid the guilt trips from Partners/Senior staff trying to get you to stay?

$530k HHI, $250k cash on hand, $1.2M investments/retirement. Plan to buy $800-900k house as our first home, but thinking of the best approach given rates today. My thinking is that we (i) put $200k+ down and get a 5/1 ARM. (ii) put everything we save moving forward toward paying down the principal (after maximizing retirement accounts). Should be able to do $100k per year. (iii) If rates go down below 4.5ish % for 15 year fixed, refinance and stop aggressive payment. Thoughts on this approach?
