I did some freelance work for a tourism board, and one thing I found through a competitive analysis is that many boards across the world struggle with social media, especially defining a unique brand and not just reposting pretty pictures. Maybe you can provide some analysis and insights into how they can improve their social presence.
Thank you! Guess I gotta start learning how to do some of that 😅
If you do not have much experience with text optimization, I recommend you hire the services of an agency established in the CV optimization sector, they are usually very effective.
Do you have any specific recommendations for one of these agencies?
I think the first thing is to make your profiles look like that of a person who travels documents and knows, it is an excellent letter of recommendation in these cases, the second would be to create important relationships with the use of Linkedin, I recommend you communicate with people who are in that branch and ask them for advice directly.
If it is something very competitive but you have a lot to give, for 3 years I worked as a CM for a cruise company, 2 years of those 3 years lasted on a ship, I quit because I didn't have time for anything but I really enjoyed a lot, some of the things that were most taken into account when hiring were the availability of your time and if you are willing to travel.
Working for tourism agencies is my dream as a CM, so I will follow this question closely and take advantage of the answers too, excellent post.
The first thing you should do is direct your entire resume towards the tourism sector, look for keywords and look for things that are usually looked for in the job descriptions of that branch of work, the second is to follow people who are dedicated to that and look for patterns that are repeated in that way you will know the networks better.
Networking is the best bet! Use LinkedIn, fishbowl, and conferences to help you connect with people
Yup, I'm currently working on building up my Linkedin, thank you!
There are a few things you can do to make your resume stand out when applying for a marketing job at a tourist board. Firstly, make sure your resume is well-written and easy to read. Use clear, concise language and avoid making it too long or cluttered.
Focus on your achievements and highlight any campaigns or projects you’ve been involved in that were successful. If you don't have any, then try to make a portfolio of what you have.
Try to get some experience in the tourism industry if you can. This will show that you have an understanding of the sector and are familiar with the challenges and opportunities it presents.
