Rule of thumb is to never take a match.
Depends on how valuable you are to the company and your new offer. I’ve seen both cases, company matching the offer and company saying “just leave”
Low rank but work is a niche / high demand area. I'll hope for the best I guess. I love my team but could double my pay if I jumped to another B4
My employer doesn’t see it that way. They seem to think the person is just marketable and want to keep them. I think that’s unusual though.
I just set up a meeting and say you are not happy about comp and not mention the other offer or leaving.
If they bump it great, if not then put that notice in a few days later.

Yes. EY is typically hesitant to match because data has shown people that do this leave fairly soon after anyway.
