Bain & Company Ik this is a big ask for someone with little to no leverage but, how can freshers in advisory prepare to move to other countries (not necessarily USA) like Australia, New Zealand, etc.?
Any kind of a roadmap idea is appreciated, thanks!

The longer you’re in pharma the harder it will be to get out.

Your salary expectations in pharma are unrealistic
If your long term goals are to work outside of pharma, I would

Short term loss for a long term gain should be the plan. Gains are more than just money.
IDK- as an account Executive I would think you should find similar salary or even a bump if ya leave jobs.
I’m honestly also looking beyond to program management...my salary is apparently too high outside of pharma.
Sorry, should've clarified. I'm now an AS, salary at 115K. In HCOL.
Unless it’s going to cause you to not be able to pay bills, take the cut now. As someone else noted, the longer you stay in, the harder it’ll be to get out. You could also try and get a promo when you move (group? I forget the next level) and money might even out.
Ultimately you’re battling personal work enjoyment vs financial. Decide which is a priority.

Assuming you’re on the younger side of your career? I would stick it out for 1 year longer than you want to, in order to have an extra year where you comfortably max 401k, invest in something slow and stable, and build savings cushion. Super valuable to be able to get those compounding early.
You will not see those numbers outside pharma (for reference, you make just shy of what I make)

Whether you’re talking about your 401k or investing separately in some steady index funds, the earlier you do it the more benefit you’re going to see later in life
Take it from someone who didn’t prioritize 401k and investing for many years — when I think about how even my pitiful-back-then offerings could have grown, I am le 😢 If I could have been maxing out for years and years? Hoooo boy!
In other words, personally I would stay in a job past a pain point to be able to max out 401k if the alternative was a lower salary that prevented that
You are being paid significantly more right now because you are doing a job that is less attractive to many people in advertising, and because it requires specialized knowledge. Golden handcuffs. But handcuffs for sure if you want a career that is creativity driven. Take the loss in the short term, or plan to be in Pharma for the long term.

Salary is a function of employer and employee. Every comment in here is reaffirming the same thing - you are well compensated because it’s pharma and you won’t find the same $$ outside of pharma. Either pick the money or leave the industry. You won’t make 6 figures at your level outside of pharma.
