Does anyone have any insights on what a typical Sr. Associate Director makes at Boehringer Ingelheim? I have a range of 170-180k which I think is fair but don’t want to be underpaid. Also, any information regarding retirement planning or medical/dental benefits would be helpful. Haven’t gotten much out of HR. Thanks in advance!

In the best case scenario, there would be more trust and transparency, and a more open company culture would improve morale. But I suspect, as we're dealing with human beings, it wouldn't work out so smoothly. I think it would create a lot of resentment. And it would likely lead to a flattening of salaries. If companies were hesitant to pay high achievers more, so as to avoid complications, job performance would stagnate. High performers would be motivated to leave the company.
Yeah it’s an interesting take. Salaries could be flattened but maybe more at an equitable wage?
Salary isn’t confidential. It may be banned within your organization but in the US I believe it’s illegal to stop employees from discussing salary
The biggest challenge is to those that negotiate poorly or those that want to do a comparative against their peers and apply a dolllar number to the perceived “gap”
Mary makes $15k more a year than Alice and 10k a year less than Michael. They all are in same job family and on same team.
How “inspired” is Alice going to be ?
It’s just very taboo
I can't imagine this would be good for morale. Finding out a new hire is making more than you for doing the same job is never going to sit well. That's not an argument against salary transparency, which I think is in every employee's best interest, it's just the reality.
I agree - it would create a lot of tension, not to say that it doesn’t happen when someone asks a newcomer their salary
