Most companies and firms will say “separated” and if a future employer asks, they confirm separation date, role and maybe compensation to reduce any liability for being sued. Fired for cause is usually ethics, breach of confidentiality, assaulting a coworker, etc., serious stuff.

You are released. IE fired. Biggest nuance is if you are eligible for rehire. No leader will say fired.

We're almost all at-will. Far more firings happen for performance reasons vs. unethical actions.
It depends. If you get let go because of extended bench time or reductions of the bottom X% of performers, you’ll usually get a separation package.
If you get fired for doing something really stupid or careless, you will likely get nothing.

If you get severance then you separated involuntarily. If you get escorted out you were terminated.
Terminated involuntarily either way. Some organizations track additional granularity, but most are careful to limit liability in the event of a lawsuit.
