I find Chase UR more versatile than Amex MR. I usually defer to my Chase cards for even points
Depends where your status loyalties lie, but CSR is probably a safer guaranteed return - you can get minimum 1.5cpp on redemption, whereas the floor is lower for Amex. I have both cards and will base airfare spend on where I’m likely to transfer the points for the most value.
I want to love Amex. I really do. Given how we swim in MR like Scrooge McDuck from all the business travel.
But I have to agree with the consensus on Chase. I’m a UA loyalist and the workarounds to book flights on them with MR are unnecessary when faced with a direct transfer from a competitor. Further, Amex Plat does not offer trip delay/cancellation insurance of any sort other than for your bags. I recently had an experience where this benefit would’ve been nice to have, and the weakness on Amex’s part has caused me to reassess my loyalties to them for personal spend.
TLDR: Chase UR is better unless you fly Delta
Got a primer on these sweet spots?
I’m generally aware of AC and ANA, but didn’t think to use them. Do we still get advantages of our status on UA, United app, etc. when booking via a partner (flight still on UA metal)?
how would you get 5x points on non-flight spend via amex?
chase points are better anyway imo. better transfer partners and always 1 cpp for cash. plus the 1.5 cpp redemption through their portal.
What company
Hoping for additional insight outside the TPG valuations
