Speaking from experience, my gut is a bitch with an anxiety problem and imposter syndrome
Always always always be ready. Book up to date. Contacts current. Never ever stop networking. Email / text at least five people a day / keep track of the conversations / when you can eat lunch with someone not at your desk / meet other people at your current office and learn their names not just the people on your team / be ready and you never have to be worried
If you feel you’re gonna get fired, that usually means something’s off about your workplace, and you should probably start looking anyway.
Probably, yes. But fear not. What doesn't kill you only prolongs the inevitable.
Thanks Publicis! I have and did just get way too comfortable. Is there ever a time you can just...chill? Or that doesn’t exist anymore.
It's been fun working with you. It's a small industry. I'm sure we'll work together again.
Fired or laid off? Big difference
Go with your gut.
I was convinced of that once, recently had a taking to and bosses were mad with me, even saw a post for my job on linked in, and then... nothing. Job post went away. Bosses were nice to me again. No idea if it was all coincidence or what but I wasn’t let go or anything.
I think I’m going to get fired every day. 4 years in Hasn’t happened yet.
Speaking from experience, your gut knows. Hope it’s wrong, though. Good luck!
This ☝🏼
It’s hard to fire someone who is willing to learn and be coached by their mistakes. If you dropped the ball, what’s the lesson in that? Usually creative types aren’t the most organized. Can you propose a solution that would help others too? Could it be a new way to have project management help with prioritizing or how they do hot sheets? Then teach others. That would be a signal to management that shit happens, but I’m taking responsibility and I’m helping others.
This industry is so fucked up.
Thanks everyone. I’m like Zenith with bad anxiety, but I did drop the ball on a project so even if not now, I don’t like to be blindsided so I’m preparing for the worst anyway. I don’t like to have reasons to be fired and if I were my lead, I’d definitely say there’s at least one reason to. Appreciate at least the 50/50 answers!
Prob just the halal. Will soon pass
Thanks SD1...a good nights sleep and a smoke later, I feel a bit better. Not terrified of getting fired anymore because I do my job really damn well all the rest of the time.
Positive update: Didn’t get fired. Probably not going to get fired. Just more closely watched and might actually be supported more! VP, GAD’s words rang very true in this situation.
Nope
Usually not. What other signs do you have?
