If you take a job that you know you’re not passionate about but are accepting it because you know it can help you build skills/make connections/just pay the bills, how do you stay motivated enough to keep working there without fully burning out and hating everything? I know there’s not much luxury in choice right now in this market so having any job with a salary should be enough motivation but beyond just the paycheck how do you still maintain energy to keep working?

Unfortunately this is the reality for a significant portion of the adult population. Try to find joy in the day-to-day little things. Stay positive. You won't be doing it forever.

Yea that’s what I keep telling myself and some days it’s easier than others. I think just the fact that I’m making money is enough to keep me going especially right now when I know people are struggling

You must choose to stay the course to attain those skills or experience you need. It will pay off. Don't look only at the day to day life, look down the road. Enjoy where you are knowing there is an end time goal or achievement that will advance you. I once took a low paying temporary job (3 weeks), to help out a friend at her work place, she was the manager. The pay was very low. I started on Monday and by Friday, the General Manager told my friend/manager that he was giving me a dollar an hour raise because of my work ethic. They ended up paying me a lot more and I was there for 12 years. It will pay off. Keep your eyes on the prize.

Yea I’ve come to learn that discipline beats out feelings of passion/enjoyment so just gotta put in the work to reap the rewards and just try to make the best of things in the moment

Currently in the process of interview for the role of a Technical Writer at Amazon (Seattle). Before the virtual onsite loop, I have been asked to provide an expected salary including base, bonus, and equity.

Based on my search, I am expecting a base salary of 105 - 120K. However, I am not sure about the bonus and equity. Any thoughts?

Does an MBA (US) make sense for me? Male, Indian, Age 32, Married working in tech consulting with 10 YOE. Base is $165 with steady increases and bonus is typically 15%. I eventually do want to cross the $300K threshold but I know stopping work for 2 years and getting and MBA probably won’t get me a $300K job right away. Becoming a manger in my current company/path will probably get me there in terms of TC. Also considering EMBA from a good school (Wharton Global, Duke, Kellogg, Booth).

Based on the Gross salary offered I have calculated the in hand salary per month would be around 152000 considering 150000 in 80C, 50000 in NPS and 200000 deductions due to home loan interest. Total tax liability is around 400000. Any other options do I have to save tax further (other than HRA, LTA)? Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
I am feeling lost in job. So I’ve applied for Accounts payable they offered 40k. I said why not to gain some experience. I didn’t even bother negotiating which I regret.
Fast forward I noticed that I was eventually handed everyone’s workload (AR & imports & duty and check coworker work + AP) Spoke to them about pay increase based on workload. So they raised it to 55k.. but I still feel underpaid based on the amt of work I do. I don’t know what my title or what to put on resume..
