If you were looking to leave your company by July at the earliest, when would you start your job search? I’ve got a large bonus due in June and don’t want to give notice prior to that, but I’m afraid if I start conversations too soon (I.e. in April) companies will be looking for start dates to happen asap And will look elsewhere.

I would start looking ASAP.

Not sure what level you're at. I'd start the search now. The labor market seems a bit slow right now.

At a supervisor level. I am starting to agree. I’m afraid the danger with waiting is I could still be here long after I originally intended

I understand what you are getting at. Same places do move quickly, however that has not really been my experience. It can be a lengthy process, just depending on the company. Would agree that it doesn’t hurt to start looking now and just be transparent about the start date.

Get an offer then negotiate Ans don't tell your current job until almost last min

I need to look now

Use your network. That’s the only way I’ve seen people getting jobs.

I would start early June. As soon as you apply, companies are looking to reach out to your current employer and interview.

Looking to begin April 1st

Start looking now.

I’m 32. I have $80k saved. $40k currently invested. Then ~$50-60k in 401k. My plan was to save for a house, but prices have skyrocketed. As life returns to normal...I need to now move out from my parents’ again. Do I bite the bullet and rent in NYC, or stay and save another 12-18 months and hope to buy something? Full transparency: taxes make it very difficult to buy. It’s not the down payment, it’s the taxes.
