I'm doing calorie restriction (1,500 calories a day). I'll go for 2 months then take a few weeks off. It gives me something to look forward to.
Well congrats on being such a stud, Senior Associate 1.
OP - great work you should be proud. I struggle myself to count calories. I have a hard time resisting fried food, which sounds pathetic, but I just get the most intense cravings. You should be very proud of yourself and do not let yourself fall into old habits. Dito to you Grant Thornton 1. People like you are so incredible, I don't know where you find the strength to change your lifestyle like that. So happy for you!
Congrats!!!! Keep it up!
Congrats I went from 310 to 165 over a several year period. One of the best things I ever did for my physical and mental health.
Once you're happy with your weight, you'll need to maintain - it will feel like a commitment for the rest of your life (because it is particularly if you have a genetic history). I gained a bit back and working hard to stay under 185 now.
Good luck.
Congrats!!! Please share your secrets, I'm in the overweight category too !
Pics or it didn't happen
Great job OP! One thing though, is not to put too much weight on what the BMI says. The BMI only looks at height and weight. It doesn't account for muscle vs fat, so if you have a lot of muscle the BMI is going to say you're obese, even though you may not be (muscle weighs much more than fat).
The only bad thing is that now that I'm back to a 30 instead of a 32, none of my slacks fit. A small price to pay for the greater confidence!
I don't have a lot of muscle.
My BMR is 1,575.
I walk 1.5 miles 4 times a week.
BMI. LOL. I was considered severely overweight when I was in the best shape of my life. 6'4" 235lbs. strangers used to think I was in the NFL.
Looking back, wish I had eaten healthy and just ordered salads during busy seasons. Struggling now, but not giving up!
@OP - I was wondering where all these extra pounds came from. I think I found some of the pounds you lost. Let me know when I can return them to you.
OP - what was your BMR? Mine is 1700 and I've been restricting to 1200 a day with minimal exercise beyond walking, and it's working pretty well for me.
@manager1 is correct. I would consider myself dense but not fat
Don't put too much stock in BMI and pounds, body fat percentage and your fitness is much more important.
Way to go!!
Way to go!
Stall 1 - Thanks. Don't worry, I peaked years ago. I'm a fat body like the rest of us now.
That's awesome!! I have been working on losing weight too.... Was a little bummed when I only lost 5 lbs this past month BUT I lost 4% body fat so I'm just building muscle and that weighs more than fat!
Congratulations! This takes commitment and habit-forming at a daily level. This is truly something to be proud of.
