If you were offered a buyout to quit your job, would you take it? Or would you refuse it, and hope you're not one of the people being laid off? What an impossible decision. You risk losing your job and ending up with nothing or giving up your job during a recession.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
History of BCG layoffs anyone?

That would depend on the circumstances. If I really didn't like the job, I'd obviously be more interested. But there could be reasons to take my chances on potentially weathering the storm. For instance, if I thought there was a chance to rise in the ranks in the organization, I'd be inclined to stick it out and take my chances. And if it didn't work out, I'd go on unemployment, which isn't the end of the world.
I personally wouldn't do it. I am a hard worker and an asset to my team. I doubt that I would be laid off regardless. But I'm willing to take the risk.
I would want to say no. But watching what happened to the people at Google or in the government who didn't take the buyouts, I think I would just say yes and start job hunting.
I’d take the buyout, at this point, I’m ready to retire and move on.
