If you’re in ID and want a partner salary bc that’s the next step for you, would I have to work more billable hours to justify my asking pay? Meaning is a true 1600-1700/billable hour requirement obsolete for me as a partner? Thanks in advance!

If non-equity, then not necessarily, because you won't really get much of a raise for making Partner.

If equity, then of course it all comes down to revenue, so you will need a team of at least 2 and likely 3+ Associates working/billing on the files you originated.

The larger your team + the more files you originate, the less hours you will have to bill. BUT you will, of course, now spend a significant amount of time on marketing and management.

Yes and no. It’s math. You have to either work more hours or raise your rates.

Hi,
I recently got an offer from Amazon for sde new grad and I’m thinking if I should join or not as I have heard a lot about toxic work culture. I’m getting a base of 129k + 27k joining bonus and 94k in stocks. It is higher than my current salary but I’m getting a lower title. What should I do? Should I negotiate on salary ? Or on the role? I had applied to a new grad role so O think I can’t negotiate on the role?

Thoughts on sending out assignments over the weekend? I work a lot on weekends, but I don’t expect associates too. But, because I work on weekends, I often will send out assignments by email with a clear indication in subject line and body that it does not need to be completed or worked on over the weekend. A friend recently mentioned this isn’t the best since seeing the assignment may create unnecessary stress and anxiety. So, what say you? Am I terrible partner?

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.
