Everyone knows about the forced resignations here. Be upfront.
Be honest and own the situation. The more comfortable you are with your story, the less it’ll seem like an issue.
Is droga still a place everyone wants to work? Or have people started to catch on that they’re kind of terrible?
@CW2 kind of terrible
@OP Be honest and real. Being laid off is not “bad” but you can make it weird if you act like you were actually fired. Just own it and move on if asked.
D5 = absolutely terrible. Some people who still work there and still buy into it, will argue. But the true test is, if all the people who used to work there say it’s terrible...then you know it’s probably terrible. I’ve noticed former WK employees almost always have nothing but great things to say about the place. Former D5 employees mostly just have horror stories.
You don’t have to outright say it... we lost budgets/business does the trick
D5 2, yeah management has been doing this to tons of people. Basically, say you are resigning and you get severance. Don’t lie, get cut immediately. Not cool and likely illegal.
@Droga5 1 ...are there really forced resignations happening??
Tell them you quit. No one knows the difference
You don’t have to say anything. If the question of why you are looking comes up express that you are looking for new opportunities. This keeps the discussion positive and also keeps the ball in your court when they want to make an offer.
Definitely be honest - this happens all the time in our industry.
Absolutely tell them there were budget cuts and that you left on good terms for a couple of reasons. 1) some places will ask your references why you left 2) starting in an honest place will help you feel relieved
It’s new info to a lot of the recruiters and employers I have spoken to actually, I guess because there isn’t press.
Just curious what others have done and what will help my chances most.
“Unfortunately it didn’t work out for us.”
If they ask you to clarify or explain, then do so. Otherwise it doesn’t matter
Sorry D5. Thought the layoffs were over at the beginning of the summer
D1, they were. 1-2 people doesn’t constitute “layoffs” like we had before.
Thanks all! Have gotten mixed advice so this is helpful. I don’t know what else is going on at droga5, I am just speaking for myself.
@copywriter 2, Why not? They are one of the best creative shop...
Thanks! To clarify, I had no intention of lying. It had just been suggested to me to be careful about sharing it immediately. So far I have been pretty open about it, so it’s to hear it’s not a big deal to a lot of people.
