Career burnout is a real issue for many of us. It can be caused by a variety of factors, such as long hours, high pressure environment, lack of recognition or resources, and unmet expectations.
It's important to consider the emotional toll that comes with feeling overwhelmed or ‘stuck’ in certain roles. I sometimes feel like I do the same thing over and over, but in the end, it's my job.
Realizing what we're experiencing can help us identify the underlying causes and take steps to prevent burnout going forward. You need to think if anything has changed since you started feeling this way.
I usually deal with burnout by taking a few days off. I know it's not an option for everybody, but you can try and see if they'll give you at least a couple days off.
I think it's important that you're asking this question. Acknowledging the issue tends to be the best option. Have you done therapy before? It might be a bit taboo still but a lot of people find it to be helpful.
Professional help is the best you can have for these cases, exhaustion is normal in our trade and despite the fact that we are used to doing everything alone, in these cases we should not do it alone, we must take care of our physical and mental health, so it is better to have help. professional.
The best tactic is drinking alcohol, Naah just kidding. After some time in alcohol and being suspended, they sent me to therapy, with the help of a therapist I got out of those dark days, and I recommend it.
First of all, we have to find the reason to reach that point without doing anything before, that is, we exhaust ourselves because we do not respect or do not know our limits, so we must set goals to fight against excess and optimize our work times, the best remedy is the one that avoids bad times.
In my case, my reasons were that I never said no, I was always available and there came a time when I had no strength at all, additionally, they abused my trust and I found myself involved in a problem without even having been on the site, so it lasted 1 month suspended while they made the inquiries, unfortunately, I lost a month of my job but it gave me time to think and to be with my family, I learned in that time that I cannot say yes to everything and that I have to have priorities in my life, things first then work.
My professional exhaustion came because perhaps I want to continue learning or going up and I couldn't do it either because of the place where I worked that was limited or because of the people who were my superiors who prevented me from going up, I decided to avoid problems and ask for a change, My change took 8 months and when I arrived at my new place of work I achieved many things in a short time, I think I was not in the right place.
Well, one of the causes of my professional exhaustion was the police station where I worked, my dream was to be a detective but there were very few cases in which I was able to work from that command because what my boss told me was that there were no resources and I delegated cases to other departments, therefore I asked for the change and when I changed I started doing what I really like.
As a police officer, I feel that many things are not as they should be, not all of us have the opportunities to go up professionally speaking, the opportunities are for a few while others require more and more hours of service, exhausting our performance, I think the main problem is cronyism within the force.
