I'm a 2015 T14 grad. Commercial litigator at midsize firm (50-100 lawyers) in non-Boston, New England (think Manchester, New Haven, Providence). Comp is 170k w/ 15k bonus each of last two years. 1800 annual expectation (w/o any pro bono or marketing). I work in my home city.

I've been with firm for 10 yrs and will likely make Partner this year (200k+ comp). We apparently just hired a second-year at 130k w/ 10k bonus. I'm feeling extremely underpaid. Time to leave? Crazy to stay?

I have a return offer from a big 4! Thoroughly enjoyed the experience as an intern and have no complaints. Would love to go back.

However, a bit confused if I should try and recruit with MBB’s or if I should accept the big 4 offer already and take the sign on bonus?

Would it be a blunder to NOT try recruiting with MBB’s ? Besides the monetary aspect, what are the other things I’d have to think about?

When I was a device driver developer with 2 years relevant experience I had got calls from Nvidia and Qualcomm. Unfortunately I wasn't able to crack the interviews back then.

For next 5 years I worked mostly on application development and broadening my exposure. I am not getting even a single call from such companies now.

How many billable hours per week is considered at capacity? I’m getting pushback on boundaries I’m setting about additional matters and marketing work from my firm when I’ve been billing 60-75 hours per week for the last 6 weeks, and I’m still behind on my work. I feel like it’s reasonable to not kill myself further to fit in more/turn things around faster at this point, but am I being unreasonable? 2nd year junior attorney applying to new positions in the Southern California area. Every firm that’s called me to interview are smaller firms with salary ranges of 80-90k. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong — I have had multiple people review my resume, cover letters, etc. It seems like it’s a decently hot market, and I’m just out here getting frustrated.

It happened again today. I was walking from my car into a building and remembered I had forgotten to lock my car. 2020 grad M&A/PE Associate in LCOL area thinking about moving to a ECVC/M&A boutique. I generally like the work I do and the people I work with, but I really don’t like the hours and the constant late nights and weekends. Currently on pace for 2250. Boutique I have been eyeing has billable hour requirement of 1500-1600 and comes with a 20-25% paycut. Is this a stupid idea and should I grind it out until I can move in house?
