One of my favorites is, people won't remember what you say but how you make them feel. It's an especially important point for leaders. I feel like all the best mentors/leaders I've had have been people who really believed in me and I wanted to make them proud, so I try to always do that for people who I lead in my work
My favorite is, "Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don't want to." And even when it comes to a point where people want to start something on their own, you can still celebrate and be happy that you have been part of the process when they grew.
I like this one: "A leader ... is like a shepherd. He stays behind the flock, letting the most nimble go out ahead, whereupon the others follow, not realizing that all along they are being directed from behind." —Nelson Mandela
