I’m a litigator that has really depended on adderall to be able to do this job (pretty high dose - 60 mg ir / day). My psychiatrist is basically forcing me to go down to 40. But will mix in intuniv and/or stratera. I am frankly scared I will not be able to do this job without my adderall. Has anyone had success with other medications? Any insight into what I can expect? I imagine they won’t be as effective as adderall; in switching meds, did you need to do anything else to compensate?

Isn’t 40mg the max FDA recommendation? So 60 seems incredibly high. I’d be concerned about the damage that may be doing to your heart as I’d imagine your resting heart rate rate during the day is now through the roof in comparison to when you’re not taking it.

I think you guys are thinking of 60 extended release. Which mine is not. It is 20 mg 3 x a day. Some people have 30 mg in their system at a time - but they are extended release. My ir prescription should have less in my bloodstream at any given time than the ppl with a 30 mg prescription for xr. Mine is just spaced out throughout the day because I work long hours.

Don’t take your meds on days you don’t work. That way you’ll have some extra on hand for extra long days or days when 40 isn’t cutting it.

I had success with Strattera once my dose was accurately prescribed. I ended up having to switch to intuniv because Strattera gave me a weird side effect.

Could you maybe push back on your psych or get a new one? I’m in a similar position. I take a 30 XR in the morning and re-up with a 20 IR around 5-6 to plow through evening work. My psych made me reduce the IR down to 10. I tried it for around 6 months and (thank goodness for data re my billables) I was able to demonstrate that the new dosage was substantially reducing my prior productivity by around 25%. My psych agreed to bring me back up to 50. So maybe you could find similar success?

You're taking way too much.

There’s been some posts on the best planning tools (e.g. planners, calendars, etc.), but my question is how do ppl make sure they use them? After 4 years I want to leave law because of my adhd! I have been to 4 different firms and at each place I feel like I have been “found out”.
