Believe in yourself and apply for manager roles. As a 3rd year senior you should have had a number of chances to fulfill manager responsibilities which you can leverage when applying.
Unless you have an incredible opportunity lined up, you should stick it out and reach your goal. But definitely consider how many folks are ahead of you to get promoted to manager next year.
....would have me feeling pigeonholed. I’m currently interviewing for a lateral position with a nice pay bump in a different tax function. My goal has always been to make manager in PA but I don’t want to have limited opportunities when I decide to leave. What advice do you have? Stay for the manager promo (1.5 years) and risk being pigeonholed or make a switch in industry to gain experience in a different function to beef up my resume?
Thanks for the feedback
