I'm a T-14 grad with big law experience that has been laid off since the summer. All of my interviews from in house to firms have not worked out. I'm a few weeks out from having to do doordash. This is humbling, humiliating and terrifying.

Hopefully you’re not just restricting your search to biglaw? You need to be applying to biglaw, midlaw, small law—all law, any law. ANY legal job is better than NO legal job.

like

Apply to a retail job right now. You want to have some cash flow while you sort out your real job search.

You never need to tell anyone about it.

like

Have you looked in other markets? Smaller firms? T-14 with BL should be able to go to midlaw pretty easily

like

Apply to state and federal government positions.

Also look at city legal jobs. In NYC, there are usually many openings, for instance.

Sign up for legal temping in the meantime (no need to put that on your resume).

I’m 23 and independent. Working full time and studying full time is taking a serious toll on my mental health. I’m always tired, unmotivated, depressed, sometimes angry at my life, and I don’t know what to do. I’m in my sophomore year. I also don’t work in the field that I’m studying (computer science) because I’m always rejected without an interview, which is another aggravating factor for me. It’s hard to have time to work on personal projects to make my portfolio more attractive.

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school
