Recruiter: I have an IT PM role for you. Are you interested.
Me: Could you tell me about it - how long, what type of project, what's the rate
Recruiter: C to C or W2?
Me: C to C
Recruiter: I won't talk to you about rate. I'll talk to your corporation about rates.
Me: I am the corporation. What's the rate?
Recruiter: To be sure you have a corporation, I'll send you an email and you fill out your company information and I'll give you a rate.
Me: No - I'm not giving you my info without a rate (With this convo - I know where this is going)
Recruiter: It's $40 an hour for C to C.
Me: I make $150 an hour
Recruiter: Really - I don't think you do.
Me: <hangs up phone>
One thing I feel bad about - such a thick accent and obviously in a crowded call center, I know it's going to be a crap rate. Started looking, so I've got my info up on sites - getting 10 calls a day and 6 or 7 are from these guys for the past two weeks. Getting stuff in my ballpark every couple of days, so I'm keeping it up there. It's such a hassle - just trying to find out the rates as soon as possible so I can end pointless calls.
