Hey Fishbowl community! I currently work as a Sales Support Specialist with 3 YOE working at a SaaS company. My dream career is to work at Microsoft or Google. I am open to different opportunities that exceed 80k+ per year. I also have a BA in Business Admin. If anyone can refer me to a great remote position I would greatly appreciate it! 😀
How do I effectively utilize my special ed ea?

And also— be proud of yourself! Let that shine through in your application. Don’t approach it from an apology standpoint, brag about how much of a badass you were to go through hell and come out on the other side stronger. The path is never linear.

Good luck!! Fingers crossed for you.

I had a similar situation. Just outline what happened (to the level that you’re comfortable with), but most importantly how you came back from it and what you learned. The fact that you crushed your fourth year will be a big help.
I went to grad school for physical sciences and had to apply to work with a specific advisor, so building a relationship with that person to some degree and talking to them about that journey also helped.
To add… own your story. What you lived, what you learned and who you are now because of you all experiences in your life, good and challenging. Or like the comment below be proud !
I would use verbiage that illustrates your drive to keep moving forward despite wanting to give up. You didnt allow yourself to quit when things were rough. You didnt take a gap year or slow down. You applied yourself to the best of your ability at the time and when things got better for you, your grades picked up too. Sometimes life gets rough but you never let it get the better of you. Many people take time off when their plate gets too heavy. Continuing to carry your plate and move forward speaks volumes of your character to keep pushing. I agree with other comments, it should be admired, not apologized for.
Be honest. Tell them also everything you did and will continue to do to overcome it so it doesn't impact you going forward.
Do not mention your mental health. Also, what exactly happened? The issue itself may be enough without mentioning the issues you personally faced
You were assaulted, and through the semester / year were focused on physically healing, managing the court case and making yourself feel safe again. You made an explicit choice to prioritise that in your life at that time, and as a result, were less able to focus on your studies. In that time, you communicated with all your professors the situation, and they were very understanding.
In semesters going forward, you quickly rebounded back to your excellent academic performance and remain proud of how you were able to handle a challenging time in your life.
