I’m at the references stage of interviews so I reached out to a former partner I worked for to see if he would be ok with me listing him as a reference. He agreed, but also asked whether I would come back and work for them. Would it still be weird to list them as a reference?

Should I complain to a firm's HR if the interviewers laughed at my answer during an interview? Maybe it sounded scripted but it was still heartfelt and genuine: my immigration story and how that made me appreciate the rule of law. I said it soo many times during OCI's that maybe it eventually sounded robotic, but for the interviewers to laugh and one to say sarcastically "nice elevator pitch", I thought was rude. Thoughts?

Hi, I applied for a BFSI domain consultant position at TCS through Linkedin. Next day two people took my interview and said they are good to go with my profile. I might have one more tech round and HR will contact. After 4-5 days HR sent Ibegin link to create my profile and update details. Then it's been 3 weeks no other update. Whenever I contact the person who took my interview he keep saying its in process please wait. Is it normal procedure in TCS? How long usually takes.

Several years ago a gay male acquaintance said he didn't date Black guys. It made me bristle but I was not surprised. Now he's married to one. I feel in a way vindicated every time I see his loving social media posts with his Black husband of like 5 years or so now.

How did he get over his apparent aversion to Black men enough to go and marry one? Where would he be if he hadn't had a change of heart?

Thoughts on sending out assignments over the weekend? I work a lot on weekends, but I don’t expect associates too. But, because I work on weekends, I often will send out assignments by email with a clear indication in subject line and body that it does not need to be completed or worked on over the weekend. A friend recently mentioned this isn’t the best since seeing the assignment may create unnecessary stress and anxiety. So, what say you? Am I terrible partner?

Does anyone know how litigation finance works on the plaintiff side? If someone wanted to bring a lawsuit against their former employer would a general contingency arrangement with a plaintiff’s firm make sense? I do insurance defense and I HATE it. All I do is defend small businesses against slip and fall cases. I'm being pressured by an attorney family member (who also does ID) to switch to Plaintiff's work at a firm like Morgan & Morgan. He says it's better and I'll earn more. Those who have made the same switch - is the grass really greener? I have zero interest in Plaintiff's work and I've always avoided it but the money and the career advancement is being pushed on me

I’ve been with firms for 6 years. I struggle (not that I’m not intellectually capable of doing this job), I just hate the detail oriented nature of this industry. Everything gets scrutinized so carefully and most things I stayed up late for doesn’t matter.

I just got PIP talk and they are pushing me out next year. I’m kinda relieved. I want to leave law completely and be someone on the operation side. Eventually I want to be an COO.

How do I get there from here?
