Bristol Myers Squibb. My boss is very noticeably corrupt. She picks her favorites and gives them opportunities she wouldn’t give anyone else, and lets them get away with anything. she picks some who she doesn’t like and makes up lies about them. Give them horrible reviews when they’re great workers. Punishes them for things that are lies or out of their control. She’s been anonymously reported to HR several times by multiple people and nothing has come of it. What can be done?Bristol Myers Squibb

I feel like there are so few positions available that it’s a game of chance. You deliver strong performance, but so do 5 other people. Who gets that one open position at the next level? The ladder narrows, and that’s why so many people have to leave to get ahead.

Part of what contributes to me feeling this way is imposter syndrome. I struggle with it big time. Across all things I do. Getting feedback from peers helps and therapy has helped a lot over the years too.

I have. I look back and see it as politics or bias due to my race and/or sex (male in a female company).
All the above?
Even something as simple as the position not being available. Companies need senior roles, but there's no rule that every senior-level performer gets the title. Few companies invent positions if they don't need it.

There is a certain level where your options narrow
There are fewer spots and the fewer the spots the more things become political and relationship based. Gotta play the game if you want to survive.
I have been "stuck" in my current role for a few years now. Despite above average performance reviews with above average merit raises, I have not been able to get a promotion or advance my career beyond where it is at.
I have started passively looking at other companies to see what is out there right now.
I don't care for playing the office politics game or play the brown nose game with management and other senior people.
