I’m currently a mechanical engineer in the HVAC construction industry with 5 yrs experience, and I’m not sure if I’ve pigeonholed myself in this industry. I want to explore the opportunity of going into other mechanical engineering industries like robotics, EVs, tech, etc. with more design work on smaller scale objects instead of buildings. Has anyone had experience moving out of the construction industry and into a completely different market?

I went from HVAC & Plumbing engineer to Reliability Engineering in mining. I made a jump that had a somewhat relevant experience. You will be considered entry level in a new industry & you’d have to weigh the pros and cons in pay vs new industry.

I went from electrical engineering consulting (MEP for commercial and light industrial) and went into substation engineering. it's a lot harder and there's a lot more stuff to know but I can make a lot more money here

Work with a few engineers in med device that came from HVAC. Find your passion and enjoy every day!

Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? A company along those lines.

Hi 👋🏻 Would love some support here - looking to build out a bonus structure for a Sales Engagement Mgr role - it isn't a typical sales role - this person will be closing deals but not necessarily securing leads. If they will be scoring leads, it will be organic via conferences, partnerships. Of course, we want to encourage and incentivize this person. Potentially giving then an extra 20-50k bonus potential. How do I build this out? Any suggestions or examples would be super helpful. Thank you!!
