I'm from Florida. Working in NY. I want to go back because my parents are having health issues. What's easier: trying to lateral to Florida or getting remote work approved from my current firm?

3rd year. Remote friendly firm with a Miami office (my team has no presence in that office). Remote is usually for beloved seniors or partners. I am usually in 3 days per week.

Not Florida barred yet.

You could try to get a lateral offer, and once you have the offer, approach your firm about working from their Miami office so you have an option either way. Florida can be a tough market to break into, so I'd recommend reaching out to a FL-based recruiter to at least get a lay of the land. That recruiter won't be happy if you ultimately stay with your current firm, but it is what it is.

And if you're able to stay at your firm and the remote/satellite arrangement isn't a good fit, you could leave the door open with other firms and likely easily lateral there down the road.

Thanks. I just don't want to rock the boat by asking because if my firm says no, then the clock really starts ticking to lateral because they know I have one foot out the door.

Sounds like this is K&E. I think they're trying to build Miami so generally pretty encouraging for people who want to transfer there

Very Noob question: First year here that has done DD for a couple of deals representing the seller now. Essentially all I did was note whether certain agreements have change of control provisions, and if so, what the specific language is. I understand what the CoC do, but why am I doing this? Specifically, what does the buyer do with this? It seems like these provisions should trigger but nothing then happens...
