Did 4 rounds of interviews. Last 2 with 2 partners at EY. Haven’t heard back even after 1 month. One partner even commented “you will be a good addition to the team”. Hiring manager gave EY email after her interview call with me.
Fast forward two weeks, no communication. Recruiting was surprised that I was still chasing for this position, month later. Got to know last week that hiring team was continuing to interview candidates. Should I drop the idea to get hired? EY hasn’t rejected me yet.
Any LEED certified folks here willing to chat?

I guess "retired" is probably not the answer they're looking for. 🤣
Agreed does anyone know where they will be in 5 years i don't and in most jobs your just a number i want to ask where do you see yourself in 5 yrs as well. But I says I want to be in a job I like and have a good work life balance 😊
I think a lot of people struggle with that question because life and careers don’t always follow a five-year script. Wanting to be in a role you enjoy while maintaining a good work-life balance is a pretty meaningful goal. Growth is important, but so is sustainability and well-being
I give the typical boring answer. "I'd like to be *level above role I'm applying for*." I'm sure everyone knows it's a cop out answer, but how are you supposed to answer it? "Not here, that's for sure"??
Not all roles have a role above them. I can't be anything higher than an RVT. I did all the work there is. I COULD get my VTS but that would add another hundred thousand in debt and no where I have worked increases your pay for getting your specialty. 🧍🏻
I’ve always thought that question is less about the exact plan and more about how you think about growth. A thoughtful answer could be something like wanting to continue developing your skills, contribute in a bigger way to the organization, and grow into opportunities that allow you to make a meaningful impact. That shows intention without having to invent a very specific future.
From the bosses I have talked with in my decades working they're just trying to see if you plan to move away in the next five years. They're hiring you for the current role, and don't want to hire someone who will jump ship
You must think about the goals that you set for yourself. Nobody wants to remain in the same position forever unless you are a firefighter. You always look for new ways to grow or expand or both. I use to not like that question neither until I understood the why. You need to know what your why is
Google a great answer and practice it. Whatever it takes. On the other hand you can be honest, tell you would like to get in and see what avenues the company is going then you can make a decision on where you can be their best asset!
Then say that? My answer is always that I don't plan to leave the area of my own free will and I am looking for a job I can stay at until I retire. Never had an issue with this answer because it makes it clear I am here to stay. I have only left jobs due to poor management decisions and treatment.
I always say” contributing to your company” keep it moving.
Usually something along the lines of:
While I honestly don't know what the next five years might bring, I have a mindset of wanting to continually learn and expand my knowledge of my field, use my skills and abilities to help build up my team and my clients, explore avenues for creativity and growth that align with my company's mission statement and values, and be in a place I am valued for what I bring to the table, respected as a person and employee, and can put down roots and grow.
That is a really good question. I try to answer with I still want to be with the same company, no matter who I get hired by. I let them know I want longevity.
