I’m interviewing for a role that offers a relatively modest base but a massive uncapped performance-based bonus structure. Coming from a traditional banking background with a guaranteed salary, the idea of my livelihood being tied strictly to P&L is terrifying. I’ve seen the historical payouts for this seat, and they range from $50k to $500k depending on the year. How do you guys manage your personal finances when your income is that unpredictable?

The simple approach, which will yield the least anxiety, is to make sure you can live on the modest base salary. Treat that as your survival fund and the bonus as what you'll use to build wealth. And when you have a good year, use that for major expenses, such as a car purchase, so you won't be taking on debt. If you can live within your means, it's possible to amass a fortune in that kind of setup, but it does take discipline.

This. I simply don’t thrive in commissions base jobs. I don’t have that “salesperson” vibe. Someone tells me no. I go away.

Is $50k the base salary? Or is the base salary super low? Last time I had a job with “uncapped” earnings the base salary was $35k (this was 2015/2016)

I am working as a software engineer for 2 years. And work on two companies including my current organization. First one was a micro-scale startup where they don't provide any payslips or PF at all.

I got a referral for
Accenture from this group. Today an HR called and told me because of not having the payslips and PF deductions from my fist company, they cannot proceed with my profile. What is happening in this field all of a sudden?

Can anyone give it a bit elaboration?

Hi Fishes,
I cleared LTI all rounds and in HR discussion we came on mutual agreement for 16lpa .I have 7 years of experience and they gave me Specialist - Data Engineering(P3) role. And we agreed I will join with after 60 as I had to serve 60 days notice period. I was waiting for offer letter and when I received the offer letter I was shocked to see that CTC mentioned was 14LPA and joining date was only 15days from now ,which is way early.

Maxed out Roth IRA contributions when I wasn't eligible for 2021 (got a salary bump mid year). Do I need to recharacterize? It's a very small account that's been open for only two years. That's the only IRA account I own. Do I need to open a traditional IRA and roll over 6k + realized gains into that account and keep the Roth IRA. So confused how this works and got conflicting information from Merrill.

I’m interviewing for a start up and the role sounds interesting. Usually for the “test” part of the interview I’ve had to analyze data. This company wants me to develop a growth strategy that outlines key initiatives for growth, different opportunities, experiments I’d run, KPIs, and working cross-functionally.

Is this a lot for an interview?

I’m a little afraid of doing all this work to then just have them take my ideas and not hire me.

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

User experience mgr salary? I support six product teams and eight reports. 20+ years experience

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.

Does anybody know what the typical salary range is and total comp for someone starting out as an internal or external wholesaler? If you are one of these, can you share about your experience in terms of whether you liked it or not, work life balance, travel, etc?
