“What’s the comp package / pay range for this position?”
It should be one of the first topics covered when talking to a recruiter.

If you are dealing with a recruiter then definitely do not worry about asking about comp. I’d understand feeling a little uncomfortable asking the partners in an interview but the recruiter should have addressed that in the screener, if there was one? If so, very odd they did not raise it already.
If really uncomfortable try to roll in another question when asking, like, what is the billable goal requirement and compensation range for the position?
You should ask for a range and make sure it works before you invest too much time
