Any layoff expected in bny ?
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

How is work culture at Bangalore MS? I have heard rumours about layoffs and firing in MS, should we be worried about it? Which would be better to join?

Newbie to investing and never invested in a company that went through a reverse stock split.
In theory, I understand the market value should increase but I’m not seeing this reflected in the price and naturally my book value/ share is very disappointing.
A) When should I anticipate the stock appreciation to occur?
B) What’s the next move for companies that do this? Issue more shares?
TIA!

What firm?
Rising Star
I expect it is multiple things:
- They owe this money regardless, whether they do layoffs or not.
- Demand is down, and at least until they start doing layoffs, they also have to pay salaries regardless.
- Forcing PTO when demand is lower than supply is therefore pretty much “free” for them—they lose little to no revenue, and costs are constant.
- It also means less PTO taken when demand recovers, raising future revenues when there is enough demand to have high utilization across the firm.
- Payouts for any layoffs they do end up doing are lowered, since they are legally obligated to fully pay out all accrued PTO.
Seems like an easy decision to me.
@AC1-not just my workload. My office and the chargability expectations for the firm is keeping everyone busy.
Might be that staffing is worried about an influx of PTO requests for H2 after travel becomes viable again.

This. Once business picks up we cant have everyone take vacation then. Need to burn through vacation throughout the year. I imagine very few ppl are taking vacations now and so the firm is worried about everyone being off at the same time.

Same for us. What does the forced PTO usage do? Is it to prevent PTO payout when layoffs happen?

@M1 what I meant by that is it reduces the liability on the balance sheet and is no longer something the firm has to carry forward. There’s a reason majority of companies right now are forcing vacation time on all employees. Basically all of my friends and such are on 40-60% work schedules right now with mandatory vacation the rest of the time.
BDO1 - a top 15 firm.

No, just making sure some people take vacation now so when we’re back at the office not everyone takes vacay at the same time.

It’s a way to control ARVE and maintain performance numbers. We required this and have since had three rounds of layoffs, Staff to VP.
Good luck op. I suggest you start dumping the resume to as many opportunities as you can.

M1 - Eh. I’m aware. Too bad my sarcasm didn’t translate back in the reply.
Same happening for me. Fortune 10 company FWIW.
They way I see it, most states have PTOs as encashable in case of separation. By forcing employees to take PTOs they’re probably reducing the bill.
Boutique or large firm?
So you forfeit the days if you don’t use them by that deadline?
Well I don’t think they’d go through the trouble of calling if money wasn’t on the line. So it’s definitely a ploy to reduced the PTO payout upon termination
