I don't know that world, so I'd give the same general advice I'd give anyone looking to break into a new field: find any kind of entry-level or volunteer opportunity. As an example, my sister volunteers for the Suicide Prevention Hotline. Obviously you want a paying role first and foremost, but doing something like that while you work on applying might help you land a full time role.
Thank you, this is really helpful advice. I’m actually working on transitioning into animal care and planning to volunteer while I gain experience, so this really reassures me I’m on the right track.
