I’m my own worst critic and should know better. For example, I’ll deliver solid work all week, but if I make even one small mistake, I suddenly feel like a total failure. Why is it so hard to let the little things go? Any tips for being kinder to yourself when you mess up?

Yes, become manager. They will find the splinter in their your eye, especially if they have a plank in their own for screwing up, luckily to have it swept under the rug.

Everyone’s allowed to make a mistake, take responsibility and address it, then move on. I take every mistake as a learning opportunity and try to live by “never make the same mistake twice” and it’s feels easier to move on.

Are you early in your career or later

That tough early in your career for sure. It gets easier

It depends what kind of mistake and usually more stressful when they affect others, but try to put structure in place to catch your mistakes- a checklist, a test for you to run against, a design review even if no one asked for it. If you are doing challenging work, there’s a higher risk for mistakes. But again, test your work against a model so you know before anyone else that you have a mistake.

As an engineer , just look at any development cycle , Nothing works the first time around , many mistakes by many people were made before it gets to the final shipping . it’s part of the process

Is it okay to disappear from friends & family to work on career change goals (several months)? I want to focus and not get distracted by friends & family needs to see me or attend certain things as it takes up a lot of time. If I focus for a short time, I can quickly achieve my goals to switch. I can hangout with them after all of that. What do you think?? Any feedback will be appreciated.

Please who knows about the advisory practice within the PwC financial crime unit (Canada Acceleration Centre)? I understand it is a client non-facing advisory role. Would it be a good career decision for someone coming from GRC firms like Kroll, Control Risk or Exiger? I am concerned about the negative reviews relating to the PwC acceleration centres in general, and getting stuck in a role which does not provide growth opportunities. Thank you.
