Does anyone here work for Silicon Valley Bank? They recently acquired Boston Private. I’m a candidate for a job at Boston Private. Wondering if SVB is planning layoffs in the near term at BP? Also, does anyone know the anticipated benefits to be rolled out from SVB as the parent company? Specifically interested in health insurance providers. Thanks in advance for any information! Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

Late first trimester suuuucks! I’m a man, so I can’t relate personally, but my wife has birthed 4 children, and man the nausea was so so bad for her. It did lighten up into the 2nd trimester for her though, so there is hope! Have you tried sea bands? They helped her a lot.
Also, you got this, mama-to-be! Having kids is life-altering, in so many ways. You are going to be amazing:)
Edit to add: just re-read and I totally missed that you already have a toddler. Sorry for the needless advice! You still got this!!!

Lord we love a supportive man!!! BigLaw needs more men like you 👏

There are phases of life that seem unsurmountable and absolutely awful/impossible. This is one of those. You fought your way through your career and through having baby #1 already (and balancing having a baby and then toddler with your career, which is also extremely daunting), you have proven that you are capable of extraordinarily hard things. Couple more weeks and the nausea should subside! You can get through this. ❤️

As the parent of a toddler who can't imagine doing this pregnant or with a newborn, every single hat I have is off to you. I won't say this is "just a season" because I personally find that phrase extremely triggering and minimizing of the fact that some "seasons" just really, really suck. So I'll just say, working mamas are rock stars and rise to the occasion with strength they never knew they had! 🤍
Also, I realize you didn't ask, BUT as someone who has kicked the can down the road repeatedly on a partner promotion to ensure I can be fully present for my family, it's a perfectly okay and respectable decision if you want to remain in a counsel role while you go through this next transition. Society glamorizes the "having it all" mentality, but I'm honestly not convinced that is a thing (at least for me). And I can confidently say not a single person has judged or thought less of me for putting my child over a title.
I promise you will feel better in second trimester, as I’m sure you know. I’m at 35 weeks and my other baby turns two this week! Frankly, the work this pregnancy was miserable, idk how I survived. But I did, and I go out on leave soon!!! You will make it!
I’m going on reduced hours when I return and hope that helps. Don’t have any tips or tricks for you other than put yourself first. I’m proud of you!
My wife just went through this. I’m IHC and she’s still BL for reasons idk. It will pass soon 🙏🏻.
As the parent of a toddler who is also newly pregnant, you are so much tougher than this! You WILL get relief soon. Are you doing Unisom/B12 and eating crackers or toast first thing? Zofran? Those nausea candies on Amazon? Sending hugs. You got this.
Unisom, B12, and Reglan! All of limited help, haha, it is too much. Really appreciate all of the support, fishbowl fam!
Good vibes coming at you from me. Glad I'm a dude lol - my wife was sick for all nine months with all 3 kids back when I was in BL and she had a pretty heavy job. She made it through, but for the life of me I don't know how because even I barely made it! I'm always super impressed with moms like you who can balance it all. Rock stars.
Best to you!
Ask your OB for Zofran/B12. Perfectly safe and widely given.
