I’m seeking some advise. I am a consultant at a Big4 (1 yoe) with good performance reviews. My undergrad GPA is 3.4 (Math) at a very small liberal arts college. If I’m trying to get to an MBA program in 3-4 years should I maybe think about doing an online masters program to get a better GPA/academic performance? Will this help me in any way?

Your masters gpa doesn’t count. Only your undergrad matters. A 3.4 is good enough as long as your GMAT is solid.

If your GMAT is stellar then yes it’s good enough. Your work experience aswell also matters a lot.

Has a recruiter specifically told you you need an MBA to advance or change careers? I was in the same boat thinking I needed it, when in reality it was going to be a $50k cost for an online program and not really get me ahead in any way. I spoke with recruiters / managers / peers and they said with the job market the way it is, you’re better off just applying for what you want.

I’m hoping someone might have some ideas about this- I’m currently five years out of law school with a clerkship, a tax LLM, 3 years of experience doing transactional tax work and a few months of EC/VC experience (which I recently switched to from tax). I like the EC/VC work, but I don’t know how long I want to stay in biglaw. Can anyone weigh in on how employers for in-house roles might look at my experience in a year or two?

Enrolled in Stern for a few weeks.
The number of the alumni and current students that go to top consulting firms FT& summer intern are countless even for a small class size.
Stern is way more than a finance school. Given its location, do you want to spend your 2 years in a rural area or heart of Manhattan? Location is almost everything for business school. (I have a friend in Cornell that frequently travels about 5 hours to NYC for events.)

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?

Hi everyone! In this field, when choosing a masters degree program is it more beneficial to get a degree in Human Resources to further my knowledge in HR (my undergraduate degree is in Economics) , an MBA, or Data Science Degree due to the fact that HR is becoming more data driven as well as get a PHR / SHRM-CP certification?

How useful is having worked with the PE practice (deal strategy, CDDs, etc.) of a consulting firm vs any other one when trying to break into PE?
