I'm starting month 5 at my firm & it's been VERY slow. I'm barely hitting 100 hours a month. While I enjoy taking it slow because I'm burnt out, I'm very concerned that I won't even meet my prorated annual billables. I ask for work & have been told I'm gonna get super busy but it hasn't happened. They say we have work & are hiring 1-2 new attorneys yet I don't get work. I'm not sure what to do or make of this. Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?

Is it weird to leave a job without expressing you are unhappy to any managing partners before hand? I’ve been negotiating a settlement on behalf of a client. OP is a major corp. we’ve gone back and forth for months, almost a year. Finally came to a final agreement and we’re reviewing for final signature. Then client is reviewing and decides they want something else modified. It’s a point of contention. OP has said no. Should I communicate this to client before pushing back against OP’s rejection of the mod?

Protocol for responding (or not) to unsolicited emails from recruiters to your work email? In other words, is it acceptable to just ignore without a response? Or do you prefer to keep the line open with a brief “thanks for thinking of me, I am not interested at this time but hope we can collaborate in the future.”
