I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
Any mass hiring happening for freshers??????

The partner leaving is biggest red flag. Reach out to as many partners or if you’re junior senior associates offering to help. That’s all you can do for now in addition making sure you put money aside for rainy day fund.
All this economic chaos is a bit out of our control unless you can magically make Putin leave Ukraine alone or Biden appease Putin. As long as this doesn’t escalate into ww3 of Asia and the west having a Herodotus style showdown of east vs west, you really can’t complain too much in times like these. Better to be broke than cannon fodder.
We've had a couple people leave for different reasons. I've reached out to other partners for work but just not getting a steady flow of work. Def need to set aside more money for emergency fund. Firm appears to be stable and we just hired a new attorney but you never know
What's your practice and billable goal and are your peers (in your practice grp) billing over 160/180?
I should be hitting 165-175 a month. It's a small firm so don't have a lot of people to compare to
