Does anyone have experience with Ben Glass’s “Great Legal Marketing” programs? https://greatlegalmarketing.com
I ordered a free “starter kit” from his company and received a decent-sized box with some books and audio CD’s. Haven’t listened to the CD’s yet, but the books aren’t bad, with plenty of practical advice.
Now he’s running a promotion where you can get two months of his basic-level course for just $19.95 to cover the cost of shipping. It seems that Ben is one of the better-regarded legal marketing “gurus” out there.

Yes. I was paid under band for 6 years - got a raise every 6 months to help with that, but never enough to actually catch up. I left and immediately took a $50k raise. Four years later, I'm leaving that company for new role with a provider that seems to have a more aligned culture fit. I now make double what I was making at my first carrier. I know I won't experience such a huge bump again but I needed to leave to get a real market adjustment.
You're not an idiot. The system is designed to underpay loyal employees and overpay new ones because that's cheaper than giving everyone market rate. It's easy to fall into the trap of staying too long because that's what we've all been conditioned to believe is the right move: work hard, stay loyal, and it'll eventually pay off. That was true for our parents' generation, but it isn't for ours. That's why jobhopping remains the best way to increase comp.
Happens to the best of us. I was baited into staying over promises of those raises that never materialized. Anyone else stick around for that? Took me about 5 years too late to realize I had to get out if I wanted more.

I’m going on year 10 and realize I should have just left year 2. People who move around every couple of years always get jobs for some reason.
