I’m tagging along on a golf trip with clients spanning over a few days at a country club. We’ll have formal dinners and drinks while we are there, and I’ve never been on trips like this before. Any suggestions on what I should wear for the trip would be GREATLY appreciated! Im guessing normal officewear (sheath dresses, collared shirts, etc) might be too much, while I don’t want to seem too casual/inapproprate considering it’s usually considered unprofessional to wear no sleeved shirts/dresses.

I think dresses are fine as long as they are an appropriate length. I knew a girl that showed up to one of these type of things in a skort that was way way too short and she was the talk of the office for months. I think collared shirts are good too.

Where's the trip? If you're going to be in hot weather, I don't really see the problem with a tasteful sleeveless blouse and slacks or a skirt? I feel like J Crew classy is the look I would go for. Blouses, slacks, skirts, dresses - it's all fine in my opinion

A nice short sleeve knee length dress which looks formal/semi-formal with pleats at the end; A white Linen Pants with a white short sleeve Polo shirt which could have a logo-tucked in with a nice belt if you have a pretty flat stomach; A shirt then a light colored sweater which you would pop your collar out and fitted leg peg pants which could have a 3/4 ankle length…On the other hand- you could wear what you are comfy with and wear it with confidence and you would be okay….Hope it goes well

Hi there

I am in need of some serious advice. I have been continuously harassed, ridiculed and spoken down to by a coworker who’s now even “threatened” to get me fired etc. We do not have an HR department and the only manager I can go to is also mistreated and not taken seriously. What do I do? I’m terrified.

Let’s talk suits. Do you have any thoughts on a junior associate wearing an expensive suit or a suit that departs from the norm (eg subtle pinstripe navy suit, or a suit with larger lapels/peaked lapels?). I’m thinking about upgrading my suit, but I don’t want to piss anyone off with a suit screaming the message “I’ve made it” when I’m just a junior associate. Perhaps it’s just all in my head and no one actually cares.

How does everyone bill for family law matters? Do you always bill hourly or is there some flat fee, monthly or quarterly fee structure that could work, even in contested matters? I have cases that the clients end up spending $20-$40,000 on a contested divorce and this is really out of their budget. I feel that if my firm could charge a flat fee of $10-$15,000, it would still be beneficial from a client predictability and volume standpoint and would generate more referrals.
