I’m thinking about getting my masters. I want to get a masters in something that will help me in the future with a job outside of education. Any ideas or experience doing something like this?

I'm considering a Master's in Computer Science or Information Tech. I think for me that or Administration would be my next phase of life possibly administration with a focus on professional development and curriculum/content development for a resource library.

I cannot speak for other states, but a masters degree in Mississippi will get you an increase in pay no matter what your masters degree is in. In other words, it doesn’t matter if it’s an education, or another field of work that you may consider once you leave teaching.

Now, if someone in Mississippi were considering getting their masters degree for the increase in pay, you would be much better off getting your national board certification. There are stipends available to help reimburse you for the cost of getting your national board certification, along with a $6000 per year stipend added to your salary.

Wow! Florida doesn’t offer anything for national board certification anymore. And the masters stipend has to be in what you teach and it’s like 2k

I got my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. Not sure about outside education but I'm sure it would help to be an instructional coach or even designing "professional development" for other companies. Considering my Doctorate in Teacher Leadership. Instructional coach.

I'm considering my masters in computer science and then a doctorate in educational leadership or something of that nature.

Joining Google in a few weeks and assuming I will be moving to the Bay Area sometime this year. For people who have kids, what do you do about schools? My wife and I are looking to buy a place but most the public schools in the South Bay are rated terribly. It’s good to note we don’t have kids yet but are trying to think longer term. Are schools even considered in the resale value of a house? Thoughts and insights appreciated!

Studied accounting and finance but worried about the future of this profession. Currently working in Forensic Consulting but want to leave. Should I go back to undergrad and get a computer science degree? I honestly want a career where I could at least potentially make 600 k per year. I feel in accounting it’s near impossible. Additionally, I’m sick of people looking down on me. My gf is getting a PhD in a social science and gets way more respect then me. I am 25 also. HELP

There’s no excuse that by the age of 25 you have never tried therapy. I’m speaking directly to the demographic in this group who I’m sure over 95% of people in here are earning 6 figures. Key word: TRY. I understand it’s not for everyone but to have never even attempted seeking therapy is a injustice to yourself and the people around you.

Thoughts on Engage NY/Eureka math...

I finally was able to convince my principal that we need a consistent math intervention at the MS level (grades 5-8). (Right now, we are just "doing our own thing," which isn't helping students progress much.) Does anyone have any suggestions? It would be beneficial to have some sort of progress monitoring tool as part of the program, if possible. Our classes run roughly 55 minutes (which is too long for an intervention, in my humble opinion).

Thanks for any advice.

Does anyone know a great 7th grade math workbook? Our school system does not buy the students books. I’ve taught 6th grade math for 20 years and have made all my notes, worksheets and and examples, but I’ve been assigned a seventh grade math class and don’t have enough time to get all of that ready. I feel like I’ve spent so much money on Amazon and TPT but it never ends up being what I want. It’s usually too easy. I would be grateful for any ideas, suggestions or actual workbooks names. Thanks.

My district has finally gone 1-to-1. Is there a good app or website that I could use to have students submit answers anonymously while going over problems in class? I did this last week using Kahoot to go over a state testing review packet. It was great because I could see how many got the right answer and move on if no one missed the question. However, I would like to do it without having to create something in advance. I hope this doesn't sound confusing.
