Question about interview process: I’m transitioning my career to product design and have been applying for a new role. I heard back from a recruiter for a product designer position and asked me to complete a design exercise. The thing is that I’ve not even had a phone interview yet. Is this normal? Also, how long should a design exercise take? The only thing I received is a list of prompts choose from. Thanks!

Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?

So, I just fired my first employee as a manager and I'm heartbroken. He was a great, great person but after 6 months on a PIP he just wasn't cutting it skills-wise. Received an offer for a Product Manager role from a midsized financial services company for $120k base + 15% bonus. Currently making $130k + 15% bonus in consulting with 4 yoe. Is this a good offer?
