I’m trying to move from GRC to cloud security . My plan is to take the AWS cloud practitioner exam and then the AWS solution architect associate exam, and then try to move to the cloud business unit in my company to get work ex

Is this the right path/direction to take? Any other tips?

I can also definitely recommend the azure route! Start with AZ-900

I went with the Azure route since it’s easier to get if you don’t need the experience to get the certs. That helped me move into a cloud team.

Which pays better and has better career highlights, FAANG or BIG4 or MBB or big Inv. Banks. I agree it depends on person to person, but it adds value to resume, get LOR from Dr, VP or PI-AP.

Your thoughts.
I know even techies or mba people have worked and moved from these org and they have their reasons to take a big role in big4 or smaller role in tech just because of the pay and wlb. For eg PM profile and onsite opportunities associated with tech co.

What is the best way to begin a transition from a help desk job to an actual career path in IT? I’m getting close to being at my current job for a year, however I have a lot of experience in the tech field, which is what landed me this job without any actual IT background. I definitely feel over qualified and under paid in the position I am in now, and looking for the next step towards an IT career. Any advice would not fall on deaf ears. TIA

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

Open question to all GenX people who are having less than 3yoe and shifting constantly company,
1. why your not able to survive in a company less than a year and looking for higher packages which is not relevant to your experience.
2.just having latest tech stack is enough and not enough capable experience to handle the critical issues.

Hi Gang,

I'm about to start working in an FP&A role, but I really want to improve my excel skills within this year as the only functions I use are vlookup, pivots and index/matches.

I've tried learning off MOOCs but they are really dry. I really want to dedicate around 4 hours per week to this learning but want to make it effective.

How did you do it?

Printing out shortcuts? Excel without a mouse? Or any recommended MOOC/books?

Do you think there’s a glass ceiling for out gay employees? I’ve been with my (now) husband for the last two decades and had three positions. I’ve absolutely excelled in each, winning awards, exceeding goals, working well. But with each position, I’ve had difficulty getting promoted. I even took on the responsibilities of a senior director after his firing and I couldn’t get promoted. My handpicked successor — who I think is an excellent marketer — became a director almost immediately.

Hello fellow UX-ers. I recently interviewed for a role and one of the interviewers on the panel asked me if I've done any projects other than for my current company. I work for a large consultancy and 1. I don't have time for freelance or pet projects 2. Even if I did them, I could seriously be in trouble with my current company.
